Lead the Future: Announcing the New Minor in Sustainability in Business

We are thrilled to announce the launch of our new Minor Programme in Sustainability in Business, marking a transformative milestone in our commitment to preparing the next generation of responsible business leaders. We hope this new minor programme positions you at the forefront of one of the most critical and rapidly evolving fields in global business.

Why This Programme Matters Now

The business landscape is experiencing an unprecedented transformation. With more organizations worldwide focusing on sustainability initiatives, and the global green technology and sustainability market projected to reach extraordinary growth rates, there has never been a more opportune time to develop expertise in this essential field. As future business leaders, you will inherit both the responsibility and the opportunity to drive meaningful change while creating sustainable value.

Our Distinctive Approach

The new Minor Programme in Sustainability in Business integrates several unique elements that distinguish it from conventional business education:

Comprehensive Integration: Rather than treating sustainability as an add-on, we embed ESG considerations throughout traditional business disciplines—from finance and investment to operations and strategy

Asia-Pacific Focus: Leveraging Hong Kong's strategic position as a global financial hub and gateway to Greater China, this minor programme addresses the unique sustainability challenges and opportunities in rapidly developing Asian economies, with particular emphasis on green finance and sustainable development.

Industry Integration: Our programme benefits from HKU Business School's extensive network and our newly established HKU Jockey Club Enterprise Sustainability Global Research Institute, ensuring students gain insights from leading practitioners and cutting-edge research.

As we collectively face the defining challenges of our time — from climate change to social transformation — business has both the opportunity and responsibility to lead transformative solutions. Declaring this minor represents more than an academic credential; it is an invitation to join a global movement of purpose-driven leaders who understand that sustainable business practices are not just good for society and the environment, but essential for long-term organizational success.

Together, we will ensure that HKU continues to nurture not just successful business leaders, but responsible stewards of our shared future.
