1.  Am I eligible to apply for admission via the International/Non-JUPAS Admissions Scheme?

 

We welcome applications via the International/Non-JUPAS Admissions Scheme for Undergraduate Programmes from:


(i) Non-local students completing qualifications other than mainland China's National Joint College Entrance Examination (NJCEE / GaoKao); and

(ii) Local students completing qualifications other than HKDSE.

2. What are the University’s and Programme’s entrance requirements for International/Non-JUPAS applicants?

The University and our programmes have a set of requirements and standards with regard to:

A. Academic standards (e.g. IB, GCE A-Levels, SAT)
B. English language requirement (e.g. TOEFL, IELTS)

Applicants should refer to the HKU’s admissions webpage (https://admissions.hku.hk/apply/international-qualifications#admissions-standard) for details of the admission requirements and standards applicable to students from different countries with different qualifications.

Expected Minimum Academic Standards for HKU Business School's Programmes

 

Due to the complex combinations of education background of non-JUPAS applicants, each application will be assessed individually based on its own merits. Non-JUPAS applicants are advised to refer to the admissions standards and subject requirements on the above website of the Admissions Office of the University before making an application.

 

In particular, please note that the expected lower boundary for admissions listed on the website aims to provide an expected minimum threshold for reference purposes only. Admissions is competitive in nature and achieving the expected lower boundary does not guarantee admission to the programme. The actual admission grade or score will be dependent on the overall quality of applications received in that particular admissions year.

 

 

3. Where should I submit my International/Non-JUPAS application?


Applicants should submit their application online through the University’s online application system at here.

Application for consideration under First Round Evaluation is open until 12:00 noon, November 27, 2024 (Hong Kong Time). Further application will continue to be accepted until 12:00 noon, August 22, 2025 (Hong Kong Time) and be considered on a rolling basis subject to places availability.

 

 

4. What documents should I submit together with the completed application form?

 

In order to facilitate the selection and administration procedures, applicants should upload the following documents (with its official English translation if applicable) to their application portal at once when the documents are available:

 

  • Copy of HKID card or passport or National identity card or birth certificate
  • Copy of any visa label(s) / entry permit(s) issued to you by the Immigration Department of the HKSAR Government (if applicable)
  • Academic transcript(s) issued by your high school / institution, showing your grades/examination results of your senior secondary education and/or degree studies* (*for current students or graduates of university degree programmes only)
  • National / International examination results (e.g. IELTS, TOEFL, GCSE, HKCEE/HKALE/HKDSE, including in the case of GCE AS/A-Level, the Statement of Results which shows the numerical scores achieved)
  • Predicted grades/scores for your upcoming examination issued by your school (if applicable)
  • Reference letter from your school principal or teacher, or by an academic or personal referee (optional)
  • Resume / CV of not more than two A4 pages of your extra-curricular activities, personal achievements, working experience, and/or any other information in support of your application (optional)

Original documents in hard copy are NOT REQUIRED at the application stage. Please DO NOT post originals to the University or the School unless you are instructed to do so by the University after successful enrolment.

 

 

5. Do you interview International/Non-JUPAS applicants?
 

Optional interview will be arranged as necessary. Shortlisted applicants may be invited to attend interviews. The format will usually be individual skype/zoom interview. Shortlisted applicants will be informed of the arrangements by email.

 

 

6. How does HKU Business School assess my application?


Assessments will be made based on information and supporting documents provided by applicants. Past academic records (both internal and public examinations), personal statement, reference(s), official predicted grades and interview performance (if applicable) are also important sources of information for assessment.

 

 

7. When will I be notified about the admission decision?

 

Offers of admissions will be made on a rolling basis. Successful applicants under the First Round will be notified about the application results from around late December 2024 onwards. Please check your application status through the HKU application system from time to time for an update.

 

8. Is there any entrance scholarship?

 

You will be automatically considered for the University entrance scholarships and the result will usually be announced at the same time when you receive an offer of admission. No separate application is required in general. Selection is based on academic merits and/or non-academic achievements. A number of scholarships are also available to students after admission. Eligible students may apply for scholarships during their studies at University.
