The HKU-PKU “Future Leaders” Dual Bachelor’s Degree in Economics, Finance and Management programme is jointly offered by the HKU Business School of the University of Hong Kong (HKU) and the Guanghua School of Management of the Peking University (PKU). This programme is designed to nurture first-class business leaders and cultivate their global perspective with intimate understanding of China. Students will spend the first two years at HKU and another two years at PKU. Upon successful completion of the Dual Bachelor’s Degree programme, students will receive a Bachelor of Economics and Finance (BEcon&Fin) degree from HKU and a Bachelor of Management (BMgmt) degree from PKU.

Programme Structure

The total number of credits for this Dual Degree programme will be 294 HKU credits. Students will be required to complete 150 HKU credits of courses in the first two years of studies at HKU and the remaining 144 HKU-equivalent credits of courses in the third and fourth years of studies at PKU. (Note: The credit requirement is for reference only and may be subject to review and change from time to time.)

 

Fees and Scholarship

Students will pay the HKU tuition fee for the first two years of studies at HKU (i.e. HK$44,500 (provisional subject to approval) for local students and HK$198,000 for non-local students for the academic year 2025-26; fees for subsequent academic years are subject to review and adjustment). Local students admitted through JUPAS will be automatically considered for entrance scholarship from the HKU Business School based on their result obtained in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education (HKDSE) examination – please click here for details of the entrance scholarship available.

 

The Guanghua School of Management will fully cover the PKU tuition fees and provide free accommodation as well as a monthly living stipend to students during their third and fourth years of the Dual Bachelor’s Degree programme.

 

Medium of Instruction

All the courses, except Chinese language courses, offered under this Dual Degree programme will be taught in English. However, depending on students’ Mandarin language proficiency, they can also choose to take courses taught in Chinese at PKU.

 

Annual Intake and Eligibility

The Dual Bachelor's Degree programme will accept up to 5 students each year.

 

This collaborative programme is only open to (a) Hong Kong permanent residents who will be completing their high school studies in Hong Kong and (b) international students as defined by the Ministry of Education of the PRC and Peking University who will be completing their high school studies OUTSIDE of the Chinese Mainland. Current PRC passport and PRC travel document holders and Taiwan and Macau students are not eligible to apply to this programme through the University of Hong Kong. Individuals who have previously held a PRC passport but have emigrated to another country or who have switched to a Hong Kong passport should reference https://futureleaders.gsm.pku.edu.cn/FutureLeaders.pdf to confirm their eligibility and be prepared to provide the relevant backup documentation during application.

 

Students offered admission to the Dual Degree programme are also required to complete all coursework requirements and meet the academic standards without any failed courses or disciplinary violations during their first two years of studies at HKU, in order to remain eligible for their Dual Degree enrolment to progress to the third and fourth years at PKU.  More details will be provided to selected students along with the admission offer.

 

Expected Qualities from Applicants

Applicants are expected to

Demonstrate a strong interest in interdisciplinary study and to contribute to addressing global challenges and promoting cross-cultural communication

Exhibit strong moral character, a clear sense of mission, and global vision

Have a track record of leadership potential and social responsibility, and/or the ability to make an impact in their field/community

Evince the determination, energy and adaptability to drive changes despite obstacles, and inspire others to help make changes happen

Possess strong academic ability

 

As admission to this Dual Bachelor's Degree programme is highly selective, candidates are expected to present top-ranged academic standard for making a competitive application (e.g. a predicted/final HKDSE result at or better than the upper quartile of HKU BEcon/BEcon&Fin (JS6767)’s admissions score in the previous year; a predicted/final score of 40 or better out of 45 for IB Diploma; a predicted/final result of 3A* or better for GCE/International A-Level; or equivalent for other qualifications).

Shortlisted candidates will be invited for interview(s) and successful candidates will be notified of the result when the admission panel from both HKU and PKU has reached a decision after the selection interview(s).

 

Priority will be given to those who place the HKU BEcon&Fin programme (6767) as the top choice in their JUPAS or International/Non-JUPAS Admissions application, but other candidates with outstanding academic and/or non-academic performance may also be considered.

 

** Supporting documents required:

Copy of identity document(s), e.g. HKID card and/or passport (or passports for those holding multiple citizenship)

 (Note: Hong Kong permanent residents are also required to upload a copy of their “Mainland Travel Permit for Hong Kong and Macau Residents” along with their HKID card copy for the application. Hong Kong permanent residents holding multiple citizenships will be regarded as international applicants by PKU and should also provide their foreign passport copy for the application.)

Predicted results for the HKDSE / IB Diploma / GCE A-Level / other school leaving examination by your school

English proficiency test scores, as required

Two letters of recommendation:

One letter focused on academic ability and potential, coming from someone such as a current or former professor, high school principal or teacher etc.

One letter focused on the personal characteristics and leadership potential as described in your application materials (People responsible for coordinating programmes or activities in which students are involved may be good sources for recommendations)
