The application for The Taxation Institute of Hong Kong- Tax Debate Competition 2018 is now open for BBA(Acc&Fin) students. This is the Institute’s 4th Tax Debate Competition which will be held at Plaza Hollywood on May 26 - 27, 2018.

CompetitionObjectives
The aims of this Competition are to promote the study of taxation and draw awareness of university students to the tax profession as another choice in their career developments upon graduation. The Competition has been successful in encouraging students to express their opinions on current tax topics and attracting public attention when it was first held in 2015. The Panel of Judges included elites from business, tax practitioners, professional bodies and academics.

Competition Format
The Competition will be conducted in Cantonese. Each university will nominate 1 team of 4 students. The mode of the debate will be on a “knock-out” basis, with the Quarter-finals and Champion Final take place at Plaza Hollywood on May 26, 2018 (Saturday) and May 27, 2018 (Sunday) respectively. A briefing session will be conducted in mid-March to provide students with more information about the Competition. The tournament list will be decided by a draw conducted during the briefing session.

Prizes
Attractive prizes including waiver of CTA exam fees and cash prizes will be awarded to the winning teams. In addition, internships in reputable CPA firms including Big 4 will be awarded to members of the champion team.

Eligibility

  • BBA(Acc&Fin) students who have taken Taxation course in HKU
  • Fluent in Cantonese
  • Strong interest and commitment to participate in the Competition and MUST be available to attend the Competition at Plaza Hollywood Kowloon on May 26 - 27, 2018
  • Students who have participated in this Competition before cannot participate again

Applicants are required to combine your university transcript and your one-page CV (including your cumulative GPA, experiences in open Competitions and awards achieved, languages spoken, and internship experiences) to ONE single file and upload at the end of the online application. 

The top 4 students will be selected to take part in this Competition on behalf of our Faculty.
