The Social Innovation in Motion (SIiM) Competition

The Community Chest of Hong Kong is calling for applications for their “Social Innovation in Motion (SIiM)” Competition.

Highlights of the Competition
Organized by the Community Chest of Hong Kong and supported by the Sino Group, The Social Innovation in Motion (SIiM) Competition is an idea competition to promote Social Innovation.

Each team which contains 2 – 4 local students should submit online application under one of the two competition categories as below.

1. Social Innovation – to provide new or enhanced services for one of the 36 participating Chest’s member agencies (MAs)
2. Fundraising – to propose new fundraising ideas and devise a fundraising campaign for The Community Chest of Hong Kong or enhancement to existing Dress Causal Day/ Walk for Millions campaign

Each team are required to submit their idea proposal for proposal assessment. Judging panel will shortlist 16 teams (8 for each category) based on judging criteria under 3 aspects, including Innovation (60%), Impact (20%) and Effectiveness (20%). For proposal outline, please click HERE.

All shortlisted participants will have to 1) attend a Coaching Session on February 23, 2019, 2) submit a short video to briefly introduce their ideas by March 1, 2019 and 3) give a 10-minute presentation on their ideas on stage in the Final Presentation and Award Ceremony on March 9, 2019.

Awards and Prizes

• Champion, First Runner-up and Second Runner-up will be awarded to the top 3 best ideas in each category:
  • Champion team HK$50,000 and Internship Opportunity
  • First runner-up team HK$30,000 and Internship Opportunity
  • Second runner-up team HK$10,000 and Internship Opportunity
  • All finalists will be awarded a ‘Certificate of Merit’

How to join

• Sign up HERE as a team of 2 – 4 members by December 31, 2018

***Teams are required to indicate their choice of one MA from a list when registering online on a first-come-first-served basis. Changes on the MA option is NOT allowed once the form is submitted***

• Submit idea proposal (in word document, PowerPoint, images or a video format either in English or Traditional Chinese) via email by January 25, 2019
• Full-time students from all disciplines

The application deadline for the Competition is December 31, 2018 (Monday).
