The 48th St. Gallen Symposium - St. Gallen Wings of Excellence Award Essay Competition
FBE UG final-year students are cordially invited to participate in an essay writing competition to compete for the 30thSt. Gallen Wings of Excellence Award. Winners will be offered a free trip to Switzerland to attend the 48th St. Gallen Symposium which will be held from May 2 – 4, 2018 at the University of St. Gallen.
About St. Gallen Symposium
The St. Gallen Symposium (http://www.symposium.org/symposium) is a global gathering of Leaders of Today and Leaders of Tomorrow that takes place annually in May at the University of St. Gallen, Switzerland. It is organized by the International Students’ Committee of the University. The goal of the Symposium is to provide a setting for relevant debates between Leaders of Today and Tomorrow on topics of management, politics and civil society.
About St. Gallen Wings of Excellence Award – Essay Competition
The St. Gallen Wings of Excellence Award Essay Competition (http://www.symposium.org/competition) was established in 1989 to encourage students to build their own opinion on topics of global relevance. Over the past years, the competition has emerged as an idea platform that not only offers students an opportunity to join the St. Gallen Symposium, but it nurtures interesting ideas to flourish during and after the conference.
Students have the chance to be qualified for an all-expenses-paid participation in the St. Gallen Symposium and to compete for the 30th St. Gallen Wings of Excellence Award by writing a compelling essay on the question “Robots are coming for your job. How do you augment yourself to stay economically relevant?”. The 100 best authors will be invited to the Symposium, the very best ideas will be presented and discussed on the Symposium’s big stage, and the three awardees will receive the prestigious award endowed with CHF 30,000.

Application Method
Interested students please apply here by February 1, 2018 (Thursday).

(1) In case if any students win the trip to Switzerland from May 2 – 4, 2018,they need to be responsible for their own safety while outside Hong Kong, bear all additional expenses related to the trip (including visa application, if necessary) as well as arrange and pay for their own insurance which covers the whole period of stay in Switzerland. Our Faculty will not be responsible for any expenses incurred in the trip.
(2) Since the trip takes place in May 2018, there might be a possibility that it has time clash with final examinations. If this is the case, please seek consent from the course instructors to see if supplementary examinations can be arranged. Students need to take full responsibility while dealing with the examination arrangements and the Faculty shall not be held liable for any consequences arise.
(3) The data collected through the online registration is solely administered by the organizer. The Faculty shall not be held liable in the case that disputes, loss or any other situations arise.
