Algo Trading Challenge 2023/24
To: All UG students
The Algo Trading Challenge 2023/24 is now open for applications.
This Challenge aims to identify and nurture algo talents and advance the development of the Fintech industry in Hong Kong. Students can take this opportunity to enrich their educational experience in algo-trading and to acquire the skill set necessary for this fast-growing market segment. Teams will be formed with diverse skills, such as maths, statistics, finance, coding, and presentation.
1st Round: Code | 2nd Round: Compete | Final Round: Pitch |
Teams will code their trading algorithm and test it on ALGOGENE back-testing engine, then submit the code | Each team needs to compete in out-sample forward test and live paper trading | Teams will present a trading plan to judges in a 5-minute pitch session on the final day

Awards and Benefits
- Winning teams from each asset class (Equity & Crypto) for each award category (i.e. (A) Best Return, (B) Best Sharpe and (C) Best Strategy Design) will win attractive cash prize.
- Winners will receive a participation certificate and get a 1-year free subscription to back-testing platform.
- Winners will have a chance to get their algo minted as NFTs in Opensea and internship/ full-time employment from the Organisers.
- Winners will connect with algo fund managers and industrial professionals in Algo Challenge Association (ACA).
Interested students should form into teams of 1 to 4 members, and the team leader should submit the online application formby Tuesday, October 31, 2023.
