FBE Student Contribution and Innovation Award 2025-26

"I am truly honoured to receive the FBE Student Contribution and Innovation Award, which I see not only as recognition of past efforts but as encouragement to keep reimagining how student life can feel more human, inclusive, and inspiring. My journey has been driven by the conviction that even small initiatives, when rooted in empathy and vision, can ripple outward to empower communities and inspire change. This award affirms that empathy and innovation are not opposites but powerful partners in shaping community impact. Looking ahead, I aspire to expand these initiatives by integrating interdisciplinary approaches that blend finance, technology, and social welfare, ensuring that our voices remain at the center of change. With UMEED (hope) as both my compass and catalyst, I remain committed to shaping initiatives that leave a lasting imprint on the communities I serve. This milestone is just the prologue, stay tuned for more adventures with me."

Recipient of FBE Student Contribution and Innovation Award 2025-26

"It is my sincerest honour to be recognised with the award by the Faculty. It is not merely a personal achievement; it marks a meaningful milestone in my voyage of serving. Through the immense privilege of leading as Chairperson of the Business and Economics Association and Team Head at the HKU Trading Group, I have sought to foster a more engaging and enriching environment for students. These experiences have reinforced my belief that leadership is fundamentally about being a man for and with others. Any impact I have made has only been possible because of the unwavering support of my Executive Committee Members, Faculty, and mentors, to whom I am deeply grateful. Their trust has shaped my values and aspirations.
Looking forward, I remain committed to empowering students and contributing to our school’s growth initiatives. I entrust this responsibility to my successors with heartfelt wishes for their success and the legacy ahead."

"I am truly humbled and honored to become a recipient of this award. I extend my sincere gratitude to the FBE for this precious recognition, and to all those who have guided and encouraged me along the way. My passion for service has been shaped by the leadership experiences at Beyond the Pivot, a student-administered NGO based at HKU that operates volunteering and rural education initiatives in China. I am also the founder of a charity platform supporting families affected by phenylketonuria, a rare inborn metabolic disorder. Looking ahead, I am committed to continuing my devotion to social service and health advocacy. It is my aspiration to make a greater positive impact on the wider society, and I will carry this recognition forward with a sense of renewed responsibility."
Dai Wei, BEcon
Recipient of FBE Student Contribution and Innovation Award 2025-26

"I am delighted to receive this scholarship. It is a meaningful recognition of my efforts over the past years in serving the groups and communities I care deeply about. Although the start-up I am committed to is not directly related to trending fields such as AI or technology, I have chosen to focus on an area where both my musical talent and business training can create real impact. This award affirms the value of music-based therapy for individuals living with dementia and their caregivers, and it motivates me to continue strengthening our work in connecting music, compassion, and social inclusion. Looking ahead, I hope to expand the reach of Embrace Chorus across Hong Kong, ensuring that more dementia patients and families can access supportive, person-centred musical engagement. By collaborating with schools, community partners, and healthcare organisations, I aim to help build a sustainable ecosystem that promotes dignity, connection, and joy for those affected by dementia. I am honoured to contribute to this mission and will continue to serve with dedication."
Ma Wing Heng, BBA
Recipient of FBE Student Contribution and Innovation Award 2025-26

“I am truly grateful to receive the FBE Student Contribution and Innovation Award. This recognition means a lot because it reflects the communities, teammates, and people who shaped my journey at HKU. From representing HKU in global case competitions to founding Kawan Migran, a platform supported by McKinsey Indonesia to combat exploitative lending faced by Indonesian domestic workers in Hong Kong, I’ve learned that real impact begins with listening and taking small steps that matter. None of these experiences were solo efforts; they were built with mentors, friends, and teams who pushed me to grow. Moving forward, I hope to keep building things that matter, supporting communities, and building solutions beyond just conversations. This award encourages me to keep showing up, learning, and contributing wherever I can.”
