Tencent Finance Academy Hong Kong FinTech Competition is calling for applications!
Tencent Finance Academy (Hong Kong) and WeChat Pay Hong Kong Limited are launching a Hong Kong FinTech competition supported by the Haccelerator Platform organised by Hong Kong Monetary Authority and Cyberport. It is now inviting all full-time undergraduates and postgraduates in Hong Kong to join the Competition, which aims to encourage students to learn about and make use of financial technology to make our lives easier and to foster Hong Kong’s development towards a smart city.
Topic: The Digital Economy in Hong Kong
The digital economy is emerging as a key driver of future economic growth in many countries, in which electronic payments (E-payments) play a key role. As a result of a global trend towards E-payments and with support from the Hong Kong government, digital wallets and E-payments are becoming more widespread in Hong Kong.
- How could E-payments benefit the daily lives of Hong Kong residents?
- How might E-payments help foster the development of the digital economy and spur Hong Kong’s development as a “smart city”?
Participants are required to create new product ideas to answer one of the above questions.
Eligibility
- All full-time undergraduates and postgraduates in Hong Kong
- Teams may comprise no more than 5 members
- Students from different universities can be in the same team
Awards
- Gold Award: HKD 100,000 (1 group)
- Silver Award: HKD 50,000 (1 group)
- Bronze Award: HKD 10,000 (2 groups)
