JUMPSTARTER IdeaPOP! 2021, a student startup competition, is calling for application now.

Highlights of the Competition

JUMPSTARTER, a not-for-profit initiative curated by Alibaba Entrepreneurs Fund, provides a platform for all entrepreneurs and young people to jump start their dreams in Hong Kong. It is also a first-of-its-kind startup event focused exclusively on showcasing quality startups and providing high-impact networking opportunities.

Our goal is to build, empower and boost Hong Kong’s startup ecosystem and entrepreneurship by bringing entrepreneurs, corporates, investors and the public together, helping to transform Hong Kong into a leading hub for global innovation and technology.

JUMPSTARTER IdeaPOP! is a part of JUMPSTARTER 2021 program which aims to nurture the next generation with an entrepreneurial spirit. Other than a competition, it’s also a startup experience program for students to brainstorm ideas, develop a plan, undergo pitch training, network with industry leaders, and interact with other young entrepreneurs.

Each team which contains not more than 4 students should submit an online application with a powerpoint deck focusing on one of the 4 core industries (Retail, FinTech, Smart City and Deep Tech) (other sectors are also welcomed). Judging panel, including industry experts, investors and startup experts, who represent local and global startup communities, will rank the Top 30 students startups based on below judging criteria:

  • Innovation and Disruption to Industry (20%)
  • Market Potential, Business Model and Defensibility (20%)
  • Team Background and Hong Kong Nexus (20%)
  • Traction and Further Development Plan (20%)
  • Social impact (20%)

Top 30 teams will be offered to join a series of startup workshops that are very practical to help translate your innovative business ideas into reality before the Online Semi-Pitch on January 15, 2021. Teams will also receive a discount code / free ticket to JUMPSTARTER Grand Finale.
