Future HR Talents Hackathon by HKMA Human Capital Management Society 2024
Dear students,
HKU Business School is invited to nominate a team of Year 2 to Year 4 undergraduate students to take part in HCMS Future HR Talents Hackathon organized by The Hong Kong Management Association - Human Capital Management Society (HKMA HCMS). By providing students an experience to navigate and tackle case that simulates real life HR business challenges, the Hackathon aims to promote sharing of insights on how HR can contribute to organizations. The Hackathon also provides a platform for exchange of knowledge and network between HR professionals, Professors, Lecturers, and young HR talents.
Hackathon Details
The Hackathon starts with each nominated team to submit a written essay based on a given case information by January 13, 2025 (Monday). The case information will be provided around two months in advance. The Hackathon Day is tentatively scheduled on February 22, 2025 (Saturday) from 9:00am – 1:30pm at The Hong Kong Management Association, 2/F, PICO Tower, 66 Gloucester Road, Wanchai. To allow interaction with case representatives, further details will be provided at the Fireside chats organized before submission deadline in January.
On the Hackathon Day, each team will be invited to do a short presentation, followed by Questions and Answers session in front of the students, HR professionals and panel of judges.
Eligibility
- Year 2 to Year 4 business major full-time undergraduate students
- with at least half of the team members are studying Human Resources as a major or as a concentration
Awards and Prizes
- Scholarships certificates will be presented by HKMA HCMS to all team members of winning teams
- Prizes will be awarded to each of the winning teams, and to team of the Best Presentation Award voted by students and participants
- Winners to receive an opportunity to a job shadowing experience or Internship led by senior HR professionals or directors in their organizations (subject to HCMS’s final decision)
- All participated teammates will be granted complimentary membership in HCMS under HKMA and will be admitted joining their 2025 activities free-of-charge
A team of 2 to 4 students will be nominated to participate in this Hackathon. Interested students should form into team of 2 – 4 students and the team leader should send the CVs of all members with the email subject line as "HCMS Future HR Talents Hackathon” to Professor Helen H. Zhao, the Representative for Human Resource Management Major, at hhzhao@hku.hk by November 1, 2024 (Friday).
