Deloitte Tax Championship 2022

You are cordially invited to take part in Deloitte Tax Championship 2022.
Competition Format
This year’s Deloitte Tax Championship have split into two tracks, Team Track an Individual Track.
Team Track | Individual Track | |
Preliminary Round | Selected students from the HKU Business School will form into a team of 4 to take part in the Preliminary Round. Participating teams will take part in a Scenario Discussion in the morning on Oct 15, 2022. Selected teams will entered the afternoon session on the same day for a case analysis and presentation. Each selected team is required to submit a report on specific tax case in PPT and then give a presentation to the judging panel. | Participants are required to design a tax management model under a selected tax management scenario and submit a PPT during the preliminary round from Oct 28 – Dec 16, 2022. |
Semi-final Round / Internship | Shortlisted semi-finalists are required to complete the internships at Deloitte Office in Hong Kong in a selected period from Nov 15, 2022 to Feb 24, 2023, and submit a team proposal on a given topic by Feb 24, 2023. | Shortlisted semi-finalists are required to present their submitted proposals to the judges on Feb 4, 2023. |
National Semi-final & Final Round | Shortlisted teams from Team Track and Individual Track will be matched and formed into new teams (each team with 4 students from Team Track + 1 student from Individual Track). Each team is required to produce a video for a specific topic and broadcast in the National Semi-final in the morning on Apr 15, 2023. Finalist teams will be selected to go through the Final Round of case analysis and presentation to compete for the Championship in the afternoon on the same day. | |
Eligibility
Team Track
1. Full-time undergraduate students for the entire academic year 2022-23 who have NEVER participated in this competition (the students must still be a full-time undergraduate of HKU by the end of April 2023. Students who will be on Exchange/Leave of Absence for the period from September 2022 to April 2023 should NOT apply).
2. Strong interest and commitment to participate in the competition and MUST be available to attend the Preliminary Round in mid October 2022, Semi-final Round & Internship in Winter break (selected period from November 15, 2022 – February 24, 2023) and the Final Round in mid April 2023 (destination and format to be confirmed).
3. Able to communicate in Cantonese and Putonghua (for efficient communications among team members). Putonghua is preferable for presentation in the Final Round.
4. Knowledge of China Tax and International Tax is a MUST.

Application Method and Deadline
Team Track
Interested undergraduate students please complete the online application form HERE for the School’s preliminary selection. Shortlisted students will be informed of the result by mid September 2022. Students who do not hear from us by then can regard your application as unsuccessful.
