Location: U.S.A.

CoreNet Global (www.corenetglobal.org), the world’s leading association for corporate real estate, is launching its 2017-18 Academic Challenge sponsored by Cushman & Wakefield, KI Furniture, and Monaco & Company.

About CoreNet Global
CoreNet Global is a nonprofit association representing more than 9,000 executives in 49 countries with strategic responsibility for the real estate assets of large, multinational corporations. The membership base is diverse and spans industries including high-tech, financial services, manufacturing, pharmaceutical and oil and gas. Google, Unilever, International Monetary Fund, Oracle, Coca-Cola, Amazon, AT&T, General Motors, Barclays and Shell are among their many member companies. One third of their membership resides outside North America (primarily Europe, China, India, Singapore, Australia, New Zealand, Brazil and the Middle East) with most members managing portfolios with millions of square feet spanning multiple continents.

About the Challenge
The CoreNet Global Academic Challenge is designed to raise awareness of corporate real estate as a viable career opportunity amongst college students of all academic disciplines, to connect local chapters and members of the association with future talent, and encourage more universities to include corporate real estate in their curricula.

Student teams from universities and academic institutions around the world are invited to compete in an academic challenge whereby students will be asked to play the role of consultants in order to address a real-world issue facing companies around the globe: how to reduce risk in a company’s worldwide physical footprint (i.e., real estate portfolio) and thereby reduce overall risk exposure to the corporation.

Interested students please form into teams of two to four members. Each team must complete an online registration form and respond to several questions. Based on the quality of submission, three teams will be selected to compete onsite at the CoreNet Global North American Summit, a professional conference for 3,000+ corporate real estate professionals from around the world, to be held in Seattle from November 5 – 7, 17. CoreNet Global will cover most of the expenses for this trip including the roundtrip airfare to Seattle, lodging (during the Summit), airport transfers, meals, Summit registration, student membership as well as a copy of “The Essential Guide to Corporate Real Estate”.

The winning team will be awarded US$5,000.

For more information regarding the competition, please refer to the Academic Challenge Brief or the competition website here.

Remark: In case if any teams enter the Seattle Finals which will be held in Nov 5 – 7, 17, all team members need to apply for Leave of Absence via their respective Programme Managers. Students will be responsible for their own safety while outside Hong Kong, bear all additional expenses related to the trip (including visa application to the U.S. if necessary) as well as arrange and pay for their own insurance which covers the whole period of stay in Seattle. Our Faculty will not be responsible for any expenses incurred in this competition.
