4th McGill International Portfolio Challenge

Desautels Faculty of Management of McGill University is inviting applications for its “4th McGill International Portfolio Challenge (MIPC)”.

 

MIPC aims to address complex societal issues in which large, institutional investors play a critical role. It is a unique opportunity for students around the world to develop and pitch sustainable investment to dozens of professional institutional investors, all while competing for CAD$50,000 in cash prizes.

 

MIPC will be hosted virtually due to COVID-19. The case topic for this year is “Social inequality and Protectionist Tendencies”.

 

Participating teams, comprise of up to 4 members, are required to submit a written proposal to the case by October 4, 2020. Top 25 proposals will be selected to enter the semi-final round. In the semi-final round, teams are required to revise the written report as necessary, prepare a slide deck, record a presentation of their proposal and attend a live Q&A session with judges. Top 5 proposals will advance to the final round to present their proposal and respond to Q&A with a panel of high-caliber finalist judges.

 

Awards and Benefits

 

  • Top proposal and the remaining of the top 5 teams will be awarded CAD$40,000 cash prizes in total
  • Proposals that offer a unique perspective: CAD$1,500 – 2,500 each
  • Best speakers: CAD$500 each

Timeline

 

September 13, 2020: Registration deadline

 

September 14, 2020: Case release

 

October 4, 2020: 1st Round submission deadline

 

October 12, 2020: 1st Round notification

 

November 1- 6, 2020: Virtual final round

 

How to join

 

  • Sign up HERE by September 13, 2020 (Sunday)
  • Pay a standard registration fee of CAD200 + tax per team
  • No limitations on majors and year groups. Cross-disciplinary collaborations is accepted.

Information Session

 

You are highly encouraged to attend the virtual information session from 10 a.m. – 11 a.m. EST on September 8, 2020 (Tuesday) to learn more about MIPC 2020. The organizer will give a formal presentation for the first 20-30 minutes and then answer questions from the audience live for the remainder of the session.
