Business Sustainability & Risk Management
Business sustainability is often defined as a process by which corporations manage their financial (profits), social and environmental risks (people), obligations and opportunities (planet).  Measurement and control are at the heart of instituting sustainable practices. Not only can organizations collect and collate the information, they can also be entirely transparent with outsiders. The Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) is one of many examples of well-recognized reporting standards. Risk management involves identifying the types of risk exposure within the company, measuring those potential risks, proposing means to hedge, insure/mitigate some of the risks and estimating the impact of various risks on the future earnings of the company.
