Youth Novation 2020 Startup Competition is calling for applications now.

Highlights of the Competition

Youth Novation 2020 Startup Competition, organized by the Hong Kong Youth Development Alliance (YDAHK), aims to explore and nurture the entrepreneurial spirit of tertiary students. The ambitious young entrepreneurs will be empowered through startup support, internships, exchange opportunities, industry network and related resources.

Participating team, comprises of 2 – 8 students, should submit an online application with a pitch deck focusing on one of the 4 key themes (Smart Life, FinTech & Other Business Technologies, Leisure, Cultural & Creative Services and Environmental Protection & Social Enterprise)(other fields are also welcomed). Teams may also submit a 2 – 3 minutes video for the competition.

Top 20 teams will enter the Preliminary and pitch online to the panel judges in mid of December 2020. Top 7 teams selected by the judging panel will enter the Final. Remaining 13 teams will join the Repechage Round and compete for the final spot to the Final. Before the final pitching on February 5, 2021, the 8 finalist teams will join the Startup Consultation Day to learn from successful entrepreneurs and investors. Startup mentor will also be assigned for each finalist team to provide one-on-one consultation and engagement. The finalist teams may re-submit their investor recruitment proposals after the startup consultation day.

Prizes for the Winning Teams

• Cash reward of up to HKD $50,000
• Outstanding participants will receive internship and corporate visit opportunities to gain an in-depth understanding of the business world
• Outstanding entrepreneurial ideas may be selected for further investment opportunities to create synergy between Cyberport entrepreneurial resources and young entrepreneur incubation base in the Greater Bay Area

How to join

• Sign up HERE in teams of 2 – 8 students
• Submit a PDF pitch deck of up to 15 pages with font size no smaller than 12 pt before November 30, 2020 (early submission by Nov 15 will receive special rewards)
• Participating teams may submit a 2-3 minutes video (optional)
• All members should be full-time students of higher diploma, associate degree, bachelor’s degree, master’s degree or doctor-ate programmes in any tertiary institutions in Hong Kong
