The QP develops the various enabling skillsets an all-rounded CPA needs through the three aspects of the programme – education, examination, and experience. The Capstone is the final level of the QP and builds on QP students’ achievements from the previous Associate and Professional Levels, combined with the real-world experience gained by the time students come to sit the Capstone. The Capstone further develops the enabling competences needed by professional accountants. It focuses on the ability to deal competently with situations professional accountants regularly face, involving the integration and application of knowledge and skills from any part of the QP syllabus, across all fields of technical and enabling competence.

The Capstone comprises of three full-day, face-to-face workshops supplemented with interactive online materials, and the Final Examination. Successful completion of the QP exempts candidates from passing the Hong Kong practising certificate examinations, which are necessary for registration as a CPA (practising). Overall, the QP and Capstone provide a comprehensive training programme that equips students with the necessary knowledge and skills to become successful professional accountants.

Students Sharing:

“The workshops were interesting and offered opportunities to connect with very experienced facilitators and students working in different firms. The workshops focused more on the soft skills - to think in multiple perspectives, to work with people with different backgrounds, and to present ideas effectively, and I received helpful feedback from the facilitators. The exam preparation focused on the integration of practical knowledge and analytical skills. I find myself being able to apply what I learned from the QP into my work.”

LAU Wing Lam Kathy

“After graduating from HKU Business School, with curiosity and enthusiasm towards Accounting, I joined the HKICPA Qualification Programme. The well-structured QP help students getting ready to becoming a practicing CPA through workshops and examinations. Participating in workshops that simulate issues we will face at work helped me gain real-world experience, and the examination side of the programme enhanced my professional knowledge and self-learning skills.”

WANG Xuezheng

“I am honoured to be one of the top candidates in the HKICPA Qualification Programme.  The recognition encourages me to continue equipping myself with the knowledge and skills for being a professional accountant in future.  Taking this opportunity, I would like to thank HKU for its favourable learning environment during my undergraduate years, and my supervisors in the workplace for their understanding and support.”
