Who we are
Established in 2020, HKU Trading Group aims to spark interest in Investment Banking and Markets in hopes to inspire members to pursue a career in the industry. We organize mentorships, competitions, training sessions, and publish regular fundamental and quant research reports. Our batches of alumni work at bulge bracket investment banks and well-regarded trading shops. We look forward to expanding our community and knowledge base with students who share the same passion.
What we do
We continue to expand rapidly by publishing 30+ research reports, organizing 4+ competitions and mentorship programs, establishing 15+ partnerships, and more importantly, assisting our members to secure offers from 50+ renowned firms. We also actively partner with societies from top-tier universities, securities brokerage, trading firms and financial data providers, organizing networking and mentorship programs.

Our Structure and Functions
Designed to fulfill our dual mission of sharing knowledge and opportunities discovery, our team is structured across three key areas: Portfolio Strategy, Equity Research, and Business Functions.
Portfolio Strategy Division
Responsible for analyzing the intersection between economics and financial markets across a wide range of asset classes, including equities, rates, FX, credit, mortgages, and commodities. Our coverage includes:
- Macro Strategy
- Quantitative Strategy
Equity Research Division
Responsible for identifying and analyzing financial information, strategic issues, and trends that affect companies, industries, and markets on both regional and global scales, with the goal of uncovering investment opportunities for the stocks we cover worldwide. This division produces original, fundamental research and analysis on the following sectors:
- Technology, Media & Telecom (TMT)
- Consumer & Retail
- Industrials & Energy
- Materials
Business Functions Division:
Responsible for providing the operational backbone that supports the entire organization and drives our strategic goals.
- Internal Affairs: This team collaborates with the Portfolio and Research Divisions to drive strategic initiatives, from sourcing and evaluation to execution, turning concepts into reality.
- External Affairs: This team builds relationships with corporations, funds, banks, and stakeholders while promoting the Group through active outreach and engagement.
