As the oldest university in Hong Kong, The University of Hong Kong has an extensive network of alumni who hold senior positions in the finance industry to serve as students’ mentor.

 

Round Table with Practitioners

 

Distinguished market professionals are invited to campus to share with students the latest developments in the financial market so that they can better relate theory and practice.

 

International Field Trips

 

Field trips to overseas financial centres such as London, New York City and Zurich will be arranged to broaden students' global perspective which is strongly appreciated by financial institutions these days.

 

Overseas Exchange Opportunities

 

The Faculty of Business and Economics has exchange agreement with many renowned institutions overseas.  All students meeting basic academic requirements are eligible to go. Our exchange partner institutions include universities with highly acclaimed quantitative finance programme, including New York University and University of Toronto.

 

Big Brother Big Sister Programme

 

As a small programme, BSc(QFin) students know their classmates from all years of study very well.  In this programme, senior year students serve as adviser for junior year students to help them adjust to the campus life.

 

Career Seminar/Workshop Series

 

Seminars and workshops are held to enhance students’ job search skills and industry knowledge. Job search training includes CV/cover letter writing workshops, individual CV/cover letter review, mock individual/group interviews, and personal career counseling. Professionals from banking/finance industries and recent graduates are invited to talk about different types of banking and financial markets, career prospects, and required competencies.

 

Internship

 

Through internship opportunities, students can gain hands-on experience in business environment and enhance their industry knowledge, communication skills, and problem solving ability, which are strongly emphasized in the business world.

Our students have been able to find internship positions with Morgan Stanley, Barclays Capital, Citicorp, HSBC, Merrill Lynch, Deutsche Bank, UBS, and Credit Suisse.  Our students’ placement record attests to the high regard for graduates from the Faculty of Business and Economics.

 

Financial Practicum

 

This elective course allows students to earn course credit while gaining real world experience via internship or providing consulting service to financial institutions.  Students will be supervised by a faculty member and a mentor from a financial institution.
