[Message from HKU Trading Group]

Who We Are:

Established in 2020, HKU Trading Group aims to spark interest in Investment Banking and Markets in hopes to inspire members to pursue a career in the industry. We organize mentorships, competitions, and training sessions, publish regular fundamental and quant research reports, and manage a simulated portfolio in partnership with Valuable Capital. Our new structural change is designated to strengthen members’ investment acumen by combining top-down and bottom-up research approaches. Our first batch of alums work at bulge bracket investment banks and well-regarded trading shops - we look forward to expanding our community and knowledge base with students who share the same passion down the road.

Who We Look For: 

Portfolio Manager:

Equity Alpha, Quant, Macro Strategies

• Identify market cycle, formulate trading strategies, and monitor portfolio performance

• Build algorithm strategies and backtesting models

• Study and compare investment philosophies adopted by renowned PMs

Research Analyst:

1) Tech/Media/Telco ; 2) Consumer (CD/CS) ; 3) Industrial/Energy ; 4) Transport/Aerospace & Defense

• Conduct sectoral research to provide investment recommendations

• Write investment recommendation reports of strong convictions 

• Learn to build financial models, standardized charts, and dashboards 

General Member:

• Subscribe to our regular reports

Remarks: 

• Portfolio Manager and Research Analyst candidates are expected to submit a 1-pager stock pitch (see below details) and have a chat with our team and founders Timmy Chu and Anson Wong.

• We expect to kickstart our mentorship program this year in November. We deeply appreciate HKU alumni reaching out to give advice to us and our fellows. Details to be posted.
