About the Competition

 

The 2023 Young Academic Award, hosted by The World Alliance of International Financial Centers (WAIFC) is calling for papers and essayson the future of a sustainable and inclusive financial sector, addressing one of the following topics:

 

  1. The future of financial literacy and education in International Financial Centers (IFC), and how IFCs can support people of all ages?
  2. How do the financial centers support talent development and re-skilling, particularly regarding sustainability and fintech? How can the financial sector remain an attractive employer for young talent?
  3. The role of IFCs in promoting environmental, social, and governance (ESG) practices in finance.
  4. The role of IFCs in financing the circular economy.
  5. How can IFCs foster gender diversity in the financial industry?
  6. What role can IFCs play in promoting financial inclusion and accessibility?

Papers on topics not mentioned above but relevant to the work of international financial centers are accepted.

 

Prizes

 

The top 3 students will have the unique opportunity to present their research at WAIFC’s Annual General Meeting to be held in New York, USA, in October 2023. Attractive prizes will be awarded to the winners.

 

Eligibility

 

• Papers must be either unpublished or published no earlier than 2022.

• If the paper is written in a different language, an English translation is required.

• Multiple authors can contribute to a paper or essay, and at least one author must be under the age of 35 as of 15 June 2023.

  

Application Method

 

Interested students should complete the online application form at https://apply.waifc.financeby Monday, May 15, 2023 and submit the final papers or essays by Thursday, June 15, 2023.

1)    Please note that student participants of this Award will be responsible for their own safety while outside Hong Kong (provided that finalists in the competition will be present at the WAIFC AGM in New York City) and should arrange sufficient insurance coverage for the overseas trip. Students shall bear the consequences of their decisions for the overseas trip.

 

2)   Students must pay all expenses related to the trip. Our School will not be responsible for any expenses incurred in this competition plus the overseas trip.
