Highlights of the Competition
Melco Resorts & Entertainment Limited (Melco), one of the largest entertainment & resorts operator in the world, is organizing the Melco Student Hackathon to embrace new ideas to help digitize its business in TravelTech, Hospitality, Retail and Customer Management so as to improve Melco’s customers experience in different properties.

A team comprises of 2 – 4 members should submit online application with a business proposal and a video/GitHub prototype based on one or several of the four categories (TravelTech, Hospitality, Retail and Customer Management).

All projects and teams will be pre-screened during the Voting Phase in December 2018. The juries, including members from a variety of departments at Melco Properties as well as its technology partner: Microsoft, will select the top 3 teams.

Top 3 teams will be entering the 3-week Mentoring Phase from late-December 2018 to early-January 2019. Teams will have the opportunities to fine-tune the solution and pitch with the help and inputs from industry veterans from Melco properties & Microsoft in both technical and business perspective respectively.

Top 3 teams will be offered the opportunities to pitch your idea (5-minute pitch & video demo plus 3-minute Q&A) to Melco’s senior management on The Grand Finale on January 18, 2019.

What should be covered in the presentation

• Solution Presentation: What is exactly your solution about?
• Impact on Melco’s Value Chain: Which area of business would be impacted?
• Solution Architecture (including APIs/SDKs): How to do you plan to include the provided Services & Kits
• Scaling model: Would a larger implementation require specific setups?
• Operational implementation: What Team, Resources, Timing would you need to execute?
• Team availability: Would you be available for Summer 2019 to implement your idea?

Teams are also highly encouraged to submit an appendix featuring their prototype via Github or demo video.

Awards and Benefits

• The top team will be awarded Microsoft laptops, 2-night stay at one of Melco’s luxury properties & USD5,000 cash prizes
• The 2^nd team will be awarded 1-night stay at one of Melco’s luxury properties & USD3,000 cash prizes
• The 3^rd team will be awarded USD2,000 cash prizes
• Professional opportunities for internships, graduate Jobs, joint-thesis, depending on participants’ profile ^

• Submit a presentation of 10 slides detailing your business proposal and a video/GitHub prototype by December 9, 2018 (Sunday) (11:59 p.m., GMT+8:00)
• Students from HK, Macau and Singapore with diversified profiles from Business to Computer Science, Design (UX/UE) or Innovation are welcome to join
