EY Asia-Pacific Cyber Challenge

Ernst & Young Group (EY) is inviting applications for its EY Asia-Pacific Cyber Challenge, a cybersecurity competitions for students to delve deeper into the hidden world of cyber and gain first-hand cyber experience.

Participating students, working in teams of four, can enter either one or both “Cyber Case Competition” and “Cyber Hackathon”.

In the “Cyber Case Competition”, teams will be divided into three groups in full-day competition on March 2, 2019 (Sat). Each team will be required to act as C-suite executives to review a detailed case analysis, develop an emergency handling protocol and deliver a presentation for a panel of industry leaders. Highest performing team from each group will enter second round competition and present views on topics, given by EY 1-month in advance, to the panel for final judgement.

In the “Cyber Hackathon”, teams will be required to compete in a mini-hackathon challenge in the selection stage to first prove the cybersecurity skills of your team. The selected teams (team with highest score from each location), will be invited to attend the Hackathon on March 3, 2019 (Sun) and compete in an exclusive dedicated lab environment with custom-made challenges across various types of systems.

·         EY Asia-Pacific Cyber Case Competition (enter as a team of four people)

·         EY Asia-Pacific Cyber Hackathon (enter as a team of four people)

Prizes:

·         Champion: HKD20,000

·         Runner-up: HKD10,000

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to manage and respond to a real-life cyber-attack as a company’s C-suite executive team during your shareholder conference? Well now’s your chance to find out and experience first-hand what it feels like to outsmart a cyber-criminal! Working in your team of four, you’ll need to review a detailed case analysis, develop an emergency handling protocol and deliver your approach in a management presentation. What’s more you’ll need to be prepared for the unexpected as the tables turn, the stakes get higher and time runs out. Cyber threats are increasing and to develop an effective and efficient countermeasure, one has to think and act like an attacker. If you’re curious to delve deeper into the hidden world of cyber then choose a team of four people that combines strategic thinking, analytics, reasoning and technical programing skills, and enter now.

How to enter
Teams can enter either one or both competitions. Full-time undergraduate and postgraduate students are eligible for this competition so long as you do not exceed more than one year’s professional work experience. International students and exchange students are welcome to enter, but must be enrolled and attending university during the time of the Hong Kong event 2-3 March 2019. Simply go to https://www.ey.com/apaccyberchallenge, review the competition details in full and follow the instructions to enter.

All teams must complete registration by 23:59 on 16, December 2018.
