About the Competition

The DB-SNUbiz Global Startup Challenge is an international startup competition hosted by the DB Group and Seoul National University Business School (SNUbiz). This challenge is designed to support talented students in achieving their dreams of becoming future leaders in business and technology while fostering their higher ideals.

 

The theme of the challenge is focused on startup businesses. Participant, working as an individual or in teams of 2 to 3 students to submit a proposal for an innovative and creative startup ideas. The proposal should include an introduction to the startup item, motivation for proposal, product/service description, competitive advantage element, market analysis, risks and limits, and the carry-out plans.

 

35 shortlisted teams for Round 2 are required to submit presentation videos and powerpoint slides used in the videos between May 11 and 31, 2023. 14 finalist teams will travel to Korea and present from August 7 to 11, 2023. The top 3 teams will be rewarded with cash prizes and a trip to the CES2024 in Las Vegas, the world's most influential tech event, where all expenses, including airfare and accommodation, will be covered by the organizers.

1st Prize – USD$2,000 + Las Vegas Trip x 1 team

 

2nd Prize – USD$1,000 + Las Vegas Trip x 2 teams

 

3rd Prize – USD$1,000 x 3 teams

 

Event Schedule

This year's challenge will run from March 14, 2023 until August 11, 2023. The preliminary round will be held online, but the final will be held face-to-face in Korea. All expenses, including airfare and accommodation, will be provided to the finalists.

 

How to join

  • Sign up as an individual or a team of up to 3 members and submit a 3-page proposal HERE by April 30, 2023 (Sunday) (23:59 KST)
  • University students 1) with startup ideas, 2) who are preliminary founders dreaming of starting a business or 3) founders operating for less than 3 years are welcome to join

Disclaimer:

 

1)   Please note that student participants of thischallenge will be responsible for their own safety while outside Hong Kong (provided that the finals will be held face-to-face in Korea and the winning teams will join the Las Vegas trip to the CES2024) and should arrange sufficient insurance coverage for the overseas trips. Students shall bear the consequences of their decisions for the overseas trips.

 

2)   Students must pay all expenses related to the trips and arrange for their own insurance which covers the whole period of stay in Korea / Las Vegas. The School will not be responsible for any expenses incurred in this challenge plus the overseas trips.

 

3)  The data collected through the online application is solely administered by the organizers. The School shall not be held liable in the case that disputes, loss or any other situations arise.
