2017 National Investment Banking Competition

Location: Toronto

FBE UG students are cordially invited to take part in the 2017 National Investment Banking Competition (NIBC), which will be held between September to November 2017.

Information about NIBC
Founded in 2009, NIBC was established on the guiding principle of providing students from any geography a merit-based opportunity to develop and measure their skillset on a world stage.

  • 1,600 competitors each year from 100+ schools including Wharton, Stanford, Yale, Western, Queens, Oxford, Cambridge and University of Hong Kong
  • Cases designed by investment banking professionals based on authentic market data with final round adjudicated by managing directors from US & Canadian banks
  • Prominent speakers have included Robert Herjavec (Lead Panelist on Shark Tank) and Frank Giustra (Founder of Lions Gate Entertainment)
  • Key sponsors representatives have included the Global Head of Investment Banking, RBC Capital Markets and Vice Chairman of Investment Banking, JP Morgan

Undergraduate and graduate students from top universities across Canada, United States and abroad will compete in the First Round, with 48 - 64 teams advance to the Final Round which will be held in Toronto, Canada. In the Final Round, teams compete for a combined prize pool of $15,000 and international recognition. Recent winners in 2015 and 2016 include: Richard Ivey School of Business, NYU Stern School of Business (Graduate), McGill University Desautels Faculty of Management and Duke University (Graduate).

Teams can now register for NIBC 2017 at www.nibc.ca. Please refer to the HIGHLIGHTS for the key information regarding the competition.

Remarks:

(1) In case if any teams enter the Final Round Competition which will be held in Toronto in November 2017, team members need to apply for Leave of Absence via their respective Programme Managers. They need to pay for the flight tickets between Hong Kong and Toronto, accommodation and meals in Toronto, insurance which covers the whole period of stay in Toronto as well as registration and competition fees. Our Faculty will not be responsible for any expenses incurred in this competition.
